About Us

Northern Utah Fibromyalgia Connection is a free and non-profit support group for people with fibromyalgia, their families, and friends. NUFC is affiliated with the National Fibromyalgia Association (www.fmaware.org) and the International Leaders Against Pain.  Located in Cache Valley, NUFC was founded by Jan Chambers of Providence, Utah, who was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in November of 2006.

Jan was invited and trained by the Leaders Against Pain Training Scholarship Seminar (LAP) in August of 2007 in Washington, D.C., to lead a local support group. In August of 2008, she attended the Fourth Annual LAP training and was appointed to the Leaders Against Pain Coalition Executive Committee.  Her goals locally are: 1) to advocate patient and public awareness about fibromyalgia through education; 2) to encourage and support other fibromyalgics in their pursuit of finding workable solutions to help ease their difficulties associated with this chronic condition; and 3) to support health care providers and researchers who are concerned about fibromyalgia patients.

Current reserach has revealed much new information about fibromyalgia and chronic pain. By working together as a support group and with health care providers and researchers, we can find methods to ease our pains and new ways to adapt our lifestyles to enjoy life again.
